Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German Theologian rebelled against the Nazis throughout the whole 12 years of the Nazi control over Germany. He believed that the Nazi party's ideals were a direct counter religion and a danger to Christianity. Due to his active participation in the resistance activities, his books were banned from all libraries in Germany and he was also banned from teaching others. His story was very interesting, being both a direct and indirect resistor as he had also joined the German secret service as a double agent. However, he was arrested on an April afternoon in 1943, and later on April 9th, 1945, Dietrich Bonhoeffer was hanged, his last words: "This is for me the end, the beginning of life.". Unfortunately, he was executed only a few days before the end of the Second World War, and he could have survived if his execution date was move forwards.
