How to get used to a new place/culture/people
Who?
My target audience is people who are new to India or Indian culture or have a slight idea of what the Indian culture is about.
What?
A food re - directory is a website that features a variety of food from the a different cultures and based off that it'll redirect you to a restaurant/place that sells/caters that specific food
Why a website? Because the basic necessity that us humans have now is a smartphone or computer and since it is a new place it would be easier to log onto the web and look at websites to recommend.`
This website will be coded in html format
Potential Ways
Food
Food - Is one of the many ways to get to used or to recognize someone's culture as eating the local cuisine/food helps you understand the taste food and the history of it's culture for example where it originates, from which side of the country it originates from, the people who made them, the reason why it was made and how that certain dish became a staple of their culture and their culture as a whole. Not only that it helps you enjoy the culture too as eating new things is usually the beginning of your want to try eating new things and is usually the best way to go when wanting to experience a new culture.
Music
Music - Is one of the great way to getting an insight onto someone's culture, from the language used to sing, the instruments used, the way the people sing, the place the music originates from, the topics sang, etc.
Books
Books are another great insight into someone's culture. For example books like the "Ramayana" and "Mahabharata" give a good insight into Hinduism and Indian belief. Most people like read books about a certain place or culture before they visit and experience them.
Movies/Tv Shows
Movies/Tv Shows - Is another great example of how you could get used to someone else's culture as watching these movies and tv shows gives you an insight to a person's culture and somewhat depicts the living situation of people in that certain culture although some depictions maybe exaggerated. But it also helps you understand the people and the reason why and how the people love them so much and how it has affected people outside their culture. For example the Shah Rukh Khan movie, "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" was such a classic to a point, it became a cult classic all over the world and helped people understand Indian culture to a certain extent.
Website/Articles
Similar to books articles can be considered an ebook of some sort that are written in primetime. Most of the articles and websites written about places and cultures out there are nice short experience stories with the best things and the worst things about the place or culture. Just like the books, many people resort to websites/articles more compared to books as they are free and they are short and they give a more direct take on something.
How?
According to an article written by Julia Belle's
How does food bring people together
It states that "Food brings people together as a way to stay connected, learn about a family member by cooking together, celebrate, learn about cultures, and provide comfort. People love food almost as much as they love each other, so together they bring happiness and joy to all"
