  1. Theme

Theme is the main idea of poem. Example: Love, Romantic, Life.

  1. Stanza

Stanza are the group of lines that separates one group from the other group of lines. Example: Couplet, Quartet.

  1. Rhyme

Rhyme is the repetition of sound. Example: ABAB, AABB.

  1. Rhyme Scheme

Can be determined by marking similar rhyming lines with an alphabet letter. Example: AABB CCDD

  1. Tone/Mood

It shows the author attitude towards the reader. Example: Happy, Sad.

  1. Hyperbole

It's an intentionally exaggerated description or comparison. Example: I'm so thirsty i could drink all the water in the sea.

  1. Onomatopoeia

A word formed through a sound. Example: Tick-Tock, Baaa

  1. Imagery

A word that represent an object with a human sense. Example: My heart is pounding like a drum

  1. Repetition

It's when a poet repeat the same words again. Example: Moon and stars, Moon and stars

  1. Assonance

It's a repetition of vowel sound. Example: Try as i might, the kite did not fly.

  1. Metaphor

Comparison between things by stating that one thing is something else. Example: I'm a cheetah

  1. Personification

Make animals, plant or any non living things have human qualities. Example: The tree waves as the wind blows

  1. Alliteration
  1. Simile

Alliteration is the repetition of the initial letters.
Example: Sally sells seashells by the sea-shore

Simile compare something similar by using like, as.
Example: The snacks are as cheap as dirt.
