Theme

Gives human qualities and feelings to something that is not human.
Example: The pen is dancing on the paper
Repetition
Repeating similar words, lines, or stanza
Example: tweet tweet the bird, talking to a bigger bird.
Consonance
Repetition of consonant sound in nearby words, especially the end of the word.
Examples: Silly slowly, sing ring.
Rhyme Scheme
Marking similarly rhyming lines of the poem with the letter of the aphabet.

Alliteration
The repetition of internal consonant sound in a series.
Examples: She stay, and stood steadily holding a stinky stick.
Hyperbole
An exaggerated situation
My tears flooded the room
Assonance
The repetition of the internal vowel sound
Examples: seen, mean, teen
Imagery
Represent object, action and idea using our senses (see, hear, smell, taste, and touch)
Example: The candies taste so sour like a lemon.
Metaphor
Comparing things by stating one things is literally something else
Example: That old man walks like a turtle
Simile
Example: That girl is as fast as a cheetah
Something similar to something else, commonly comes with as or like.
Onomatopoeia
A word form through a sound
