The government is in charge for setting minimum wage, every year it passes a decree (decreto) setting the minimum wage. The government receives the advice from a special tripartite commission, the national commission of collective bargaining, which submit a recommendation to the government taking into consideration the economic situation. But this commission is not authoritative as the British one, the government normally doesn’t follow their advice. For this reason a new commission, the independent technical commission, was created, which is made by 5 economists.
