Alma Madrigal’s husband Pedro dies when they are trying to escape armed conflict with their three infant children, Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno. Alma’s passion and energy to save her family is magically captured by a candle she has in her possession at the time of the escape and death of her husband. The magical candle creates a sentient (living ) home (a Casita) for them to live in when they find the new location for their home. It also protects gives almost every member of Alma’s family a magical superhuman ability they call gifts. . Of Alma’s three children, Bruno is ostracized by the family as he is given the gift of precognition, the ability to fortell events before they occur, but the gift is not precise and some of his predictions result in confusion and conflict in the family, who begin to reject him eventually driving him away. Over time family grows and begin to build a town called Encanto. The story opens when Alma is much older and now the matriarch of her family, called Abuela (grandma). Her children are grown with children of their own. One of Julieta’s children, Mirabel is unable to receive a gift, and this saddens her and as her family definitely treats her differently to others in the family

Bruno Madrigal. Bruno is one of the three children Abuela (Alma Madrigal) his gift is seeing into the future he is often referred as: Bruno, black sheep and Tio Bruno

Luisa Madrigal. She's the daughter of Julieta and Agustín. She is the younger sister of Isabella and older sister of Mirabel. Her gift is Superhuman Strength

Julieta Madrigal. Julieta is one of the three triplets. Her gift is she is able to heal others with food. She one of the few people who likes their gift as it heals people. she is the mother of Isabella, Luisa and Mirabel and Agustín's wife

Pepa Madrigal. Pepa is the second born to Alma and Pedro. She is the mother of Dolores, Camilo and Antonio. her gift is Empathic weather manipulation.

Isabela Madrigal. Is the oldest child of Julieta and Agustín. Her gift is chlorokinesis. She is the eldest grandchild and Abuel's favorite

Agustín Madrigal. Is the Father of Isabella, Luisa and Mirabel. He is the husband of Julieta.

Camilo Madrigal. Camilo is the second born to Pepa and Félix. His gift is shapeshifting agility and athleticism. His sibling are Dolores and Antonio

Antonio Madrigal. Antonio is the youngest child of Pepa And Félix. His gift is Zoolingualism. His sibling are Dolores and Camilo

Dolores Madrigal. Is the oldest child of Pepa and Félix. Her gift is Enhanced hearing. Her siblings are Camilo and Antonio

Casita Madrigal. Casita is a living house who was manifested and brought to live by the Encanto (The candle) and manipulates its self moving tiles and floorboards

Abuela Alma. Is the mother of Pepa, Julieta and Bruno. She is the one who was In despair and pain, Alma prayed for a miracle and was immediately granted one. Magic was born from Alma's candle, and the magic created the Encanto

Mirabel Madrigal. Mirabel is the youngest child of Julieta and Agustín. She has no gift being the only child in Madrigal family with no gift.

Félix Madrigal. Félix is the husband to Pepa and the father of Dolores, Camilo and Antonio
