Conflicts of Interest
Personal interest as material limit on representation of client is prohibited unless lawyer reasonably believes that she can provide competent and diligent representation to the affected client, representation is not prohibited by law, and client gives informed consent, confirmed in writing.
Opposing lawyers who are related: can be waived by informed consent by each client, not imputed to the rest of the firm
Sexual relations with client: prohibited unless a consensual sexual relationship predated the commencement of the lawyer client relationship. Cannot be waived by informed consent
Lawyer as Witness: a lawyer may not represent a client if the lawyer is likely to be necessary witness. EXEPT testimony relates to an uncontested issue, testimony relates to the nature and value of the legal services rendered in the case, or disqualification of the lawyer would work a substantial hardship on the client.
