        Solar panels can't pick just the green light which is not used by the plants. If red is absorbed, then green and blue are absorbed, too. (That's because photon energies for green and blue are higher than photon energy for red). This is true for silicon panels. Maybe there are other materials with different absorption properties, but these would be too expensive. As far as I know, currently there is no viable alternative to silicon.
      - solar-powered greenhouses This has the potential to address a number of issues in certain areas of the United States and elsewhere. When it comes to growing anything in the desert, it's pretty miserable. Solar-powered greenhouses can do a lot, including providing proper lighting via LEDs, recycling water, and maintaining the proper temperature for growth. Winters can be bitterly cold, with temperatures dropping to near or below freezing. These greenhouses can regulate temperature by allowing light in while keeping cold out, and they are ideal for growing winter crops. This use of solar with food production strikes me as a far superior alternative to simply having solar farms that render the land useless. This is an extremely positive step.

        :pencil2: FPV is a real renewable energy alternative that can help Spain to implement the 2030 55% GHG emissions reduction target. Some regions and particularly those in the south could benefit greatly from harnessing this renewable energy, not only by reducing their dependence on non-renewable resources, but also by balancing their electricity mix.

Although the FPV generation potential falls to 56 TWh per year if natural bodies of water are excluded, it would still represent a substantial 22% of the country's electricity demand and 51% of the non-renewable electricity generated.
        
        :pencil2: Further research is required to improve future assessments of the FPV electricity generation potential, for example by comparing the resulting estimates with the amount measured from actual FPV panels and performing a detailed sensitivity analysis.
