Competing in an oversaturated market such as toys meant that Toys 'R' Us had to go up against department stores like Target, Walmart etc who have the advantage of selling other things. The company could have remodelled themselves and rebranded themselves as a tech store to spark a fresh, innovative take in a stagnant industry.
