Telling Tales: Changing Discourses of Identity in the "Global" UK-Published English
language Coursebook
(Kullman, J., 2013)
Activities, tasks, roles, and meanings are all a part of larger systems of relations that give them significance; they do not exist in isolation. ( Lave and Wenger, 1991; 52-3)
Discourses of identity can help answer the question of why the global coursebook has its role in implications for those involved in writing and publishing and the teachers and students who use them as well.
CDA ( Critical Discourse Identity) is more than language use: it is language use in speech and writing, and can be seen in any type of social practice ( Fairlough, 1992)
An order of discourse: controls how a subject can be meaningfully discussed and reasoned about. It also affects how concepts are put into action and how they are applied to control other people's behavior..( Hall, 1997:42)
Orders of Discourse are the specific arrangements of standardized practices (genres, discourses, narratives, etc.) that text creators and interpreters can use in a given social context ( Fairlough, 1999: 184).
