TED TALKS
Peter Dottie: how your "working memory" makes sense of the world
Working memory: Is a part of our consciousness that we are aware of all the time of the day. Its not something we can forget
4 components:
Store some immediate experiences
Reach back into our long-term memory
Mixes and processes it
Light up whatever our current goal is.
Its great for: critical thinking, communicating, problem solve.
Its limited: in capacity, duration, and in focus.
we normally tend to remember things from 10 to 20 seconds, unless we apply it to something, process it or talk to someone about it.
Through strategies:
Repeat it and practice
Think elaboratively and illustratively
Use imagery
