Popol Vuh (Mesoamerica)
-
- created earth (mountains, valleys, rivers, laves, etc.)
- wanted to create humans that could converse himself (god). the creation process was a trial and error (1: mud, too limp and weak; 2: wood, too rigid and had no emotion)
- decided to make humans from "two parts of himself" : made 9 kinds of liquor (man's energies and strength) --> 4 men, and 4 women
- found that the men were too "perfect", so god gave limitations to the human (a mist that clouded their eyes from seeing "true" reality)
- the light dawned with the creation of humans
