There's no other way to put it, rally drivers are truly a different breed. Their ability to read the road ahead with the help of pace notes while traveling over 100 mph on tight forest roads is simply astonishing. In changing weather conditions, rally drivers battle through gravel, asphalt, mud, dust, and even snow-covered roads while racing against the clock. Simply put, top drivers of the World Rally Championship have mastered the art of driving at, and beyond, the limit.
Colin Steele McRae was born on August 5, 1968 in Lanark, Scotland. Rallying has been in the McRae blood long before Colin was born, as his father Jimmy was a five-time British Rally Champion.
Furthermore, his brother Alister McRae also became a rally driver, and competed against Colin in the World Rally Championship, driving for Mitsubishi in the early 2000s.
At only 27 years and 109 days old, Colin McRae was crowned the 1995 WRC champion, becoming the youngest driver to do so, driving the Subaru Impreza to victory against another legend, two-time champion Carlos Sainz in Britain's RAC Rall
