JJO Receives notification on the arrest of a juvenile via telephone call from Police / upon visit to cell
•JJO assists with age determination collects information on juvenile background & circumstances of the attends to welfare needs and circumstances of offence recommendation for bail and recommendation for diversion.
•If diversion or community conferencing is agreed upon, the matter is diverted
•Otherwise the juvenile is charged and is expected to appear in court

•JJO facilitates diversion / conference
•JJO supervises or oversees outcomes from CBC.

diversion facilitation does not eventuate or outcome from conference results in no rehabilitation and justice outcomes, the juveniles case is returned to police where formal charges are laid and progresses to court hearing.
