I Believe
All students have the right to be successful.
Educators/school staff have an obligation to help all students be successful.
We must look at all avenues when students are not successful.
Students deserve as much grace as we expect as teachers.
In my classroom, I have a belief that every student can be successful. I work to help students in any way I can and that has forced me to challenge myself and others when needed.
All educators deserve support in and outside the classroom.
Educators need quality professional development and strong teacher mentors.
Educators must feel supported and give support to others.
Educators should respect each other's practice (even if it is different then their own).
In my classroom, I work with other teachers to help each other and students. My goal is to always do what I can to be supportive. However, I will stand up again colleagues when I feel like they are not being fair and equitable to students.
Educators have the ability to grow and change (even when they do not believe it).
All educators are capable of learning new things and should work on building knowledge.
We have to support each other in our growth and encourage it.
We have to work together to improve our profession.
In my classroom, I try to model the best instruction I can. This helps my students, but I hope it is also a guide to how others can reflect and improve upon their teaching. I also learn from my colleagues and try to bring what is working in their classroom into my own.
Administration should work together to help the school building succeed.
They must hold students and staff accountable.
They must deal with issues instead of trying to make everyone happy.
In my classroom, I try to work with my administration to help my students and my department be successful. This means having constant conversations and doing what I can to be helpful.
