Traditionally, a demon may choose to partner with an organic mortal they deem worthy. Technically, demons can use this power on any being and without consent, however this goes against the Demonic Code, which most demons abide by. - Merging - The merging power allows a demon and its partner to become a single being. Their combined physical prowess, experiences, and abilities can result in an extremely powerful entity. While merged, they share one body and one mind. A demon's powers are amplified while being merged with an organic being, and composite organic/demonic flesh is extremely durable. Additionally, organic flesh stabilizes demonic flesh, negating its bleed effect outside Hell. - Caution - Repeated, prolonged merges can lead to complications. While the body and mind are one, merging relies on the subconscious of each individual remaining segregated to ensure proper separation. Long merging sessions allow the two subconscious minds to begin growing into each other. The inter-growth of subconscious minds may lead to them becoming dependent on each other to properly function, leading to psychosis when separated, where the sufferer never feels whole, or as if some or most of themselves is missing. This has been dubbed "merging sickness" . In extreme cases of long-term merging, two individuals may become "fused". - Fusion - Fusion is the state in which a merged pair are unable to separate. This condition is considered permanent. It can be reversed, but the sheer brute force required to separate a fused pair is above what many merged pairs are capable of producing. Even if a fusion is reversed, the two individuals which entered the fused state will not be the exact same two which will emerge from it, due to the violent nature of this kind of separation. Body parts, thought patterns, and even memories can be traded. One individual may walk away with more than they started with, and the other with less. If the separation is successful the pair will suffer "fusion shock" which can incapacitate someone for anywhere from a month to several years, and is similar to extreme merging sickness. - Trios - More than two beings can be merged into a single entity at once. A trio, the merging of three individuals is the most stable form of merged entity, but can still be destabilized by bad mental chemistry among the trine. - Amalgams - The merging of more than three individuals greatly decreases stability with each one added. Merged entities comprised of roughly eight or more are considered highly unstable "amalgams". The mental space of such a being is a chaotic thing, functioning more on instinct than rational thought. A singular drive and sharp focus from all involved is required for an amalgam to not succumb to its instincts, whatever they may be.
