Project analysis
Consumer
My interview with my client will provide information about my client and give me a better idea of what is required.

Aesthetics
As my product will be very functional, aesthetics are a secondary requirement, and should not impede the function of the product or greatly increase the cost.
The product must stand out visually, so that it is easily recognisable.
-
Shape
To make it easier to pack the product, it should be flexible, and have a mutable shape.
A rounded shape is better than one with sharp edges, as it will prevent it from tearing or catching on things, allowing for it to be stuffed into a bag.
To attract a customer, the product must look different from all the other products available, as well as having an eye-catching and unexpected appearance.
Cost
As my client will want to provide my design to several users, the unit cost should be relatively low.
While the design will be unique, it will enter into a competitive environment, so must be priced competitively.
-
Safety
-
-
The product should not dig into the users back or discomfort the user in any way while they are walking.
Material
Ideally, the product should be made from flexible materials such as textiles to make it easier and more ergonomic to pack.

Environment
End of life
To prevent waste and pollution, the product should be recyclable or biodegradable. However, the product must also be able to survive a variety of weather conditions.
The product should be designed to be maintained, so that if it malfunctions it can be repaired rather than having to waste resources replacing it.
During use
-
The product must survive adverse weather conditions, as well as being stuffed into a bag.
