Apostolic Succession: The correct interpretation of Gods message
Jesus the son of God and Mary
Historical: He died on the cross then the religion was based around him
Mythical: He was never flesh or blood but only a spirit
Gnostic Christianity: Do not represent majority of Christians believing that God was never a physical form. They believe he was pure spirit.
Gospel of Thomas: States that kingdom of heaven is inside and outside of us
Gospel of Judas: States that Jesus dying was all part of the plan. He was a betrayer of Jesus.
Marcion was an important Christian he came up with the idea of the bible and to not include the Old Testament because God was only spirit
Biblical: All the miracles especially resurrection
Synoptic Gospel: goes through Jesus life and included Matthew, Mark and Luke.
Canonical Gospels are the first four books in the new testament
Mythical Gospel: Includes John and this does not have the birth story of Jesus in it.
Gospel of Mary Magdalene: She was with Jesus during his hanging on the cross and also his resurrection. This gospel begins after his resurrection.
Jesus is also in the form of the Holy Trinity. God the father, the son and the holy spirit.
Original sin: Everyone was born sinful. Example would be Adam and Eve they were born sinful that is why they disobeyed God and ate the apple.
Christianity branches off
Eastern Orthodox: Centered in Constantinople. Believes in all that Christianity does but differs in the ways of worship and way of life.
Crusades came along and tried to convert people back to Christianity and take back the holy land of Jerusalem.
Council of Nicea was the first council of the Christian church intended to address the entire body of believers.
Protestant: They don't believe in the way the church functions based on the concept of money can buy salvation. They also believe that you should go back and read the bible for yourself and see what you get out of it rather than what you are only taught.
Follows of Jesus
John the baptist was a forerunner for Jesus. He baptized people in preparation for the coming of Gods final judgement.
Paul of Tarsus was a apostle of Jesus he spread the word of Jesus.
