Assessments
Formative
Definition: Formative assessment enables teachers to modify and adjust instruction based on feedback from students. There is little or no grade value attached to these assessments because they are low stakes.
Closing Notecard: Students will write or create an image of one thing they learned on the front. On the back of the notecard students will write or create an image of what they are confused or have a question on.
Exit Ticket: Students will create their own short story that involves a problem and resolution. Students can create an image with labels, or write it down.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Assessments designed to measure students' progress and determine if they are on track for future assessments are called interim/benchmark assessments.
High Frequency Word Test: Measures student's understanding of their HFW's, fluency, and letter recognition skills.
Renaissance Testing: Quickly measures students’ early literacy and early numeracy skills with a computer-adaptive assessment designed just for younger students.
Summative
Definition: Students are assessed at the end of each unit during summative assessments, which have a high grade value because of how high stakes they are.
End of Unit Project: Measures what students have learned through the unit and are able to follow a simple rubric (with adult assistant) (adult will guide not do the work)
End of Unit Exam: Measures what students have learned through a unit. This exam will most likely mimic the assessments/ activities that students have pervious done. Or simply multiple choice questions.
Diagnostics
Definition: Diagnostic assessments measure strengths and weaknesses of students, as well as previous misconceptions. In order to meet students' needs, teachers can plan their instruction based on this information.
Exit Ticket Quiz: Students will complete a short 8 minute quiz that relates to the new knowledge learned. The quiz will be provided in a way that connects to the process of the topic of the lesson.

Performance
Definition: Unlike regular tests where students answer questions, performance assessments require students to perform a task.
Bubble Map: Students will compare and contrast a topic or topics. For example, students will compare and contrast two holidays.
Sorting Activity: Students will sort items, pictures, or numbers into categories. For example, students will sort pictures into two different categories; needs and wants.
