Formative
Definition: This is a way to check on students progress that is not high grade value. This can assess where a student currently lies, allows room to provide feedback and adjust instruction to better fit the needs of the students.
Stand Up, Hand up, Pair up: Students can write a summary of their learning then discuss with a partner while teacher walks around to listen in, prompt discussion and check for understanding.
Journal Entry: Students can write a few things they learned from todays learning or what stuck out to them. Teacher can have students present their entry to the class.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: This assessment is based on future assessments. The students are being checked to make sure they are understanding the content being provided to them and if not it will support the instruction to change pacing to better fit the students needs.

STAAR: Commonly taken for grades 3rd and up. This is the standardized test for Texas to show the students progress at their current grade level.
Summative
Definition: This type of assessment are normally high in grade value to show an end of unit evaluation.

Performance
Definition: This is a type of assessment based on the students performance. The student is required to do a task.
Act it Out: This can be used when discussing sequencing of a story and the students are able to show their reading comprehension by physically acting out the scenes how they happened.
Make a Map: Students can make a bubble map, tree map any type of map that allows the students to show their understanding of the lesson content they just learned.
Diagnostic
Definition: This type of assessment can be used to determine strengths and weakness a student may have. It can also be used to find any misconceptions and will support the teacher to see how they may need to alter their teaching to support their students needs.

KWL Chart: A great way to see what the students may already know, adjust lesson content accordingly and clear up and misconceptions. See what the students would like to know making the learning more student-centered and what they have learned at the end of the lesson.
