Diagnostic
Definition: Diagnostic assessments are pre-assessments that are used to gauge students knowledge, skills, strengths and weaknesses before beginning learning. This will help teacher know what students are able to do and what they still need to work on. While also providing them with the information needed in order to best support students needs.
KWL: Students will fill begin by filling out the K part of the chart with what they laready know, then the W with what they want to know, and after they will fill out the L with what they learned. This serves as a tool to see what knowledge students already have.
Sight Word List: Students will have to read a list of high frequency words in order for the teacher to know the knowledge of words studetns already posses and those they still need to master.
Perfomance
Definition: A performance assessment is an approach designed for students to complete a task to demonstarte the what they know and are able to do with their learning.
Fishbowl Debate: Students will hold a debate over two different views and support their claim while the rest of the class posses questions to them. This type of performance assessment teaches students about different viewpoints and opinions as well as having them demonstrate their learning.
Project: Students will be responsible for creating a presentation based on the learning that took place to their classmates. This will require students to use the knowledge and skills they posses in order to successfully complete the task.
Formatiive
Definition: Formative assessments are ongoing assessments used as a method to gather evidence of student learning that will help the teacher with feedback and adjusting of instruction as needed based on students learning progress. These assessments are provided in a low stakes with little to no grade value and are used to differentiate based on students levels.
Think-Pair-Share : Students will have an index card well they will write the answer for the possed question. They will then pair up with a partner to share their responses and provide feedback to each other. Teacher will circulate to assess student learning as they discusss.
Traffic Light: Students will have a three colored index card red, yellow, and green. In the red section students will write down something they dont know. In the yellow section students will write down something they may know or partially know. In the green section students will write down something they know.
Red: I dont know....
Yellow: I may know.....
Green: I know.....
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Interim/Benchmark assessments serve as a tracker to asses if students are where they are suppose to be in their learning in order to be successful.
STAAR: Students are given a state standard test to asses their knowledge and learning in grade level.
MAP: Students are given a computerized to demonstrate what they know and are ready to learn in math and reading. Additionally, these scores can be compared to measure student growth over time.
Summative
Definition: Summative assessments are given to students at the end of a unit or conclusion of learning to sum up their learning. They evaluate student knowledge and the success of their learning in a high stakes with a high grade value.
Midterm Exam: Students are given an exam to determine their knowledge over learning that took place over a period of time.
End-of Unit or Chapter Test: Studetns are given an assessment that provides data for the teacher, school leaders and district leaders
