Positive
The government collected the grain it needed to feed the cities and export them to buy industrial equipment
Collectivisation allowed the soviet union to amass grains to be sold which raised capital to be reinvested into further industrialization
Small individual farms were merged into large collective farms as it was believed that larger units of land would be farmed more efficiently with machines like tractors
Negative
Many peasants, especially kulaks, killed their own animals, burnt /hide their crops
