Intermim/Benchmark
Definition: Is to see where the students are in their learning to determine if they are on track to do well on their future assessments.
STAAR: It is the standardized test that is given at the end of the year to assess students knowledge learned and achievement in that grade level.

Summative
Definition: This is to evaluate student learning at the end of an instructional unit by comparing it against some standard or benchmark

Performance
Definition: This is where students need to perform something rather than a paper test or a regular test.
Around the room: The student will go around the room solving the problems and the teacher can check the students understanding.

Diagnostic
Definition: This is what we give our students to pre-assess them to see what they already know about the lesson. It allows us to see their strengths and weaknesses. We can also see the misconceptions they are already seeing. This will allow the teacher to plan the lesson and talk about those misconceptions.
Pre-assessment: It is the test that you would give as the end of the unit test but before we start the unit. It has no grade value.
K-W-L: This is where students are allowed to state what they already know, what they want to know, and in the end what they learned.

Formative
Definition: It is the way to assess our students to get feedback. We can use this feedback to adjust instruction and go over anything we need. This assessment should have little to no grade value.
Exit tickets: We use this at the end of the day to check for understanding. We can then use the feedback to adjust the instruction for the next day.
Questioning: We question our students throughout the lesson. This lets us do automatic feedback with the students. It also lets us check for understanding right away.
