Formative Assessment
Definition: Process of gathering evidence of student learning, providing feedback, and adjusting instruction.
Pre Assessment: Students will complete a pre-assessment to gauge student comprehension and enhance instruction.
Learning Log: Students will record what they have learned during the lesson, and answer 1 or 2 questions pertaining to the content.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: A benchmark assessment is an evaluation of student learning progress, used to determine whether they are on track to performing well on future assessments.

Class Project: Students will complete a project by creating some type of presentation pertaining to a specific unit or lesson in order to demonstrate knowledge.
Unit Test: Students will complete a unit test in order to demonstrate knowledge over a specific unit or lesson.
Diagnostic
Definition: A diagnostic assessment is a form of pre-assessment where teachers can evaluate students’ strengths, weaknesses, knowledge and skills before their instruction.
Unit Pre-test: Students will complete a unit pre-test which will provide the teacher with data that will help them to adjust/enhance instruction.
Anticipation Guides: Students will complete a graphic organizer that allows them to write about what they know in regard to a particular topic.
Performance
Definition: A type of assessment that involves applying and showing skills and knowledge through various performance tasks.
Self-Evaluation: Students will complete a task within an assignment where they will be asked to grade their own work, as well as to explain and justify whether or not they agree with the grade.
Student Portfoilio: Students will create a portfolio of their work and be able to present it to their teacher in order to be graded based upon a premade rubric.
