12b Bronchiolitis细支气管炎 - Coggle Diagram
12b Bronchiolitis细支气管炎
Definition: an acute viral infection of the small air passages of the lungs (called the bronchioles)
(RSV) Respiratory syncytial virus, incubation period: 5 to 8 days
-
-
results of: contaminated hands to eye, nose & other mucus membrane
-
Pathophysiology
- results of the inflammation of the lining of the epithelial cells of the small airways in lungs
- causing mucus production, inflammation & cellular necrosis of those cells.
- Inflammation of these cells: can obstruct the airway -> result in wheezing
Diagnostic Evaluations
-
-
Physical examination
- Chest inspection (work of breathing)
- Lungs auscultation (air entry & breath sounds)
Medical Management
- Short-acting beta2-adrenergic receptor agonist: e.g. Salbutamol (Ventolin)
- Steroid: e.g. IV-Hydrocortisone, Oral-Prednisolone
- Supportive treatment: e.g. Fever management (Paracetamol/ Brufen); IV therapy for maintenance/ dehydration
Nursing Diagnosis
-
RISK FOR FLUID VOLUME DEFICIT related to inability to meet body requirements & increased metabolic demand
-
-
Nursing Management
- Droplet precaution: prevent cross contamination
- Monitor respiration status (vital signs, work of breathing, saturation probe): for early detection of deterioration
- Perform suctioning as needed: to clear secretions & ensuring patent airway
- Optimize bronchodilator administration by using appropriate size of the face mask and chamber.
- Ensure adequate fluid intake: for tissue hydration
- Administer & monitor IV therapy as ordered: for maintenance/ replacement.
- Administer antipyretics: control body temperature for fever management
- Provide information on patient's status to parents: allay anxiety
