Religion and Freedom:
Definition:
"Freedom is power, rooted in reason and will, to act or not to act, to do this or that and so to perform deliberate actions on one's own responsibility" (CCC 1731)
Overview:
- Religion tends to be concerned with bringing out what they perceive as good
- Preserve and pass on to new generations' experiences of God
- Hands on ways Jesus Christ believers to:
- relate intimately with God, the Creator of everything, including human goodness
- accept the influence of God in daily life so that every individual's potential for goodness and love matures
- develop quality human relationships by developing the love of God within the life of the individual
- finding the meaning and purpose and direction of their lives
- prepare for life after death, and the making of choices that lead to eternal intimacy
