JAMES JOYCE – MAN’S LIMITS AS ‘’PARALYSIS’’
I FOCUSED MY ATTENTION ON A SORT OF INTERPRETATION OF MAN’S LIMITS IN JAMES JOYCE’S WORKS. HE WAS A MODERNIST WRITER. IN PARTICULAR I SEE AN ASPECT OF MAN’S LIMITS IN ONE OF HIS MAIN THEMES, THAT IS PARALYSIS. JOYCE DESCRIBES THE PARALYSIS OF THE DUBLINERS, BUT IN THIS CONCEPT I SEE A UNIVERSAL MEANING, REFERRED TO MAN IN GENERAL. THE PARALYSIS THAT JOYCE DESCRIBES IS BOTH PHYSICAL, DERIVING FROM EXTERNAL FORCES, AND MORAL, LINKED TO RELIGION, POLITICS AND CULTURE.
