• Other federal laws, including the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Act of 1984 and the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Act of 1990, challenged business, industry, labor, and education to develop policy, procedures, and practices promoting racial and sex equity. While specific gender equity funding was eliminated in the 1996 Perkins Act, accountability measures related to non-traditional participation in career and technical education were added and continued in the 2006 and 2018 reauthorization of Perkins, continuing the push for gender equity.
