Hormones
Controlling Blood Glucose Levels
Low levels of blood glucose
Pancreas released glucagon
glycogen is converted into glucose
glucose is released back into the blood
High levels of blood glucose
Pancreas releases insulin
Insulin causes glucose to move from the blood into the cells
Excess glucose is converted into glycogen for storage.
Eventually the glucose is stored as lipids
Controlling Water Levels
High water levels
Less ADH is released
Kidney tubules become less permeable
less water is reabsorbed by the kidneys
Lower water levels
More ADH is released
Kidney tubules are more permeable
More water is reabsorbed by the kidneys
