- - - - after ww1 the victorious allied powers (france, britain, france, the usa and italy) negotiated the terms of surrender/defeat for the central powers (germany, austria-hungary, the ottoman empire and bulgaria). afte mnths of negotiations, the treaty of versaillies was signed and it imposed a number of arsh punishments on germany.
        
        Germany's punishments included, they had to take the blame for ww1, had to pay reparations to the allied powers that totalled at 132 billion gold marks (US$33 billion), they had to demilitarise leaving 100,000 men in their army, a limited number of warships and no airforce.
    - - Germany was one of the worst affected nations during this time, suffering mass unemployment, record price rises and a fall in the standard of living. Workers went on strike, German currency depreciated in value, and the economy suffered as foreign investors moved their money out of Germany.
    - - Appeasement is a diplomatic policy of making political material, or territorial concessions to an aggressive power to avoid conflict. In 1933-37 appeasement was adopted by leaders around Europe and allowed Hitler to rebuild Germany, to break every clause in the treaty of Versailles and to trigger the second world war that they were trying to avoid.
    - - The wall street crash was a significant crash in the American stock market in 1929. When the banks collapsed, people lost their life savings, homes, and jobs overnight. Companies that employed thousands of people closed overnight. People around the globe were forced to stand in line for welfare and charity handouts. This signalled the start of the great depression
- - - - a persons perspective is a persons point of view, and the position of which people see and understand event the events of the world. people will often have diffrent perspecties of particular events based on their age, gender/sex, social position, and their beleifs/values.
    - - Historians recognise that over time some things stay the same, while others change. Historians refer to aspects of the past that stay the same over time as continuities. They refer to aspects of the past that do not stay the same over time as changes. Continuities and changes can be identified within a certain civilisation and over short periods of time. They can also be identified across different civilisations and much longer periods of time.
    - - The concept of cause and effect is used by historians to identify chains of events and developments, both in the short term and in the long term. Cause and effect aims to identify, examine and analyse the reasons why events have occurred and the resulting consequences or outcomes. It helps to think of cause and effect as the ‘why’ and ‘what’ of history.
    - - Evidence is the information gathered from historical sources. The concept of evidence is an essential part of historical inquiry. Evidence can come from many different sources that are either primary (from the time) or secondary (after the fact) sources.
    - - The concept of empathy helps us to understand the impact of past events on particular individuals or groups. This includes an appreciation of the circumstances they faced and the motivations, values and attitudes behind their actions.
    - - The concept of significance relates to the importance assigned to aspects of the past. This includes people, events, developments, discoveries, movements and historical sites.
    - - The concept of contestability relates to explanations or interpretations of past events that are open to debate. Historians around the world often have access to very different sources. Artefacts may have been damaged, or artworks may be incomplete. Written records may contain errors, or might have been changed after they were written. Some records may even have been completely destroyed. This can lead historians to draw different conclusions about what they are seeing. Even historians studying the same sources can sometimes come to very different conclusions about what the evidence is telling them it is all up to that specific pesons ideologies.
