RP8
Investigating the effect of light or gravity of newly germinated seedlings
Method
1
Put cotton wool into three petri dishes and add same volume of water to each dish
2
Add ten seeds to each dish and place them in a warm place
3
Let seeds germinate - add extra water if cotton wool dries out
4
Once seeds have germinated, check if each petri dish contains same number of seeds
5
Place one petri dish in full light on a windowsill, second in a dark cupboard and third in partial light
6
Every day for 1 week, measure height of each seedling and record results in a table
7
Calculate mean height
Variables
Independent variable = placing plants light and dark conditions
Dependant variable = mean height of seedlings
