- Lack of students' motivation had the highest connection with poor academic achievements of first-year students (Le, et al,. 2020).
Lack of student motivation due to:
- high expectations for their careers leads first-year students to choosing the wrong degree
(Le, et al,. 2020) .
- Selecting a degree that doesn't interest them causes a lack of motivation to study and in turn affects academic performance and results
(Le, et at,. 2020).
Relevance to project topic:
- The study focuses on the factors that contribute to
poor academic performance as well as dropout rates which is the main idea of the project topic
- Classification revealed differences in mental health conditions, showing an increase in the rates of self-injury and suicide contemplation among first-year university students (Wyatt, et al,. 2017).
Mental health issues caused by:
- Emotional changes due to transition from school to university.
- Stress is caused by and directly to these emotional changes.
