Maslow's Need Theory
(introduced by Abraham Maslow in 1943)
Physiological needs
is the lowest level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs
are vital to survival such as water, food, shelter, clothes
for instance, employers can provide accommodation to employees
Safety needs
the second level of Maslow’s hierarchy needs
is need to protect oneself from injury and feel safe in their life and surroundings
for example, health insurance and health care, insurance coverage, pension scheme
Love and belonging needs
become the third level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs
the individual's desire to be accepted by the society of friendship as well as love from social interaction
we can get from friendships, family relationships, social groups and community groups
Esteem needs
is the fourth level of Maslow’s hierarchy
the need to be valued, respected and given a position or status and feel respected by others
For example, giving promotion opportunities, increases salary to employees
Self-actualization needs
the final level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs
