plant cells
Collenchyma cells -Elongated and occur in long strands or cylinders. - provide support for surrounding cells. Have unevenly thickened cell walls, which allow the cells to stretch and and flexible. Retain the ability to undergo cell devision when mature.
Parenchyma cell -most flexible , thin walled cells. Found throughout the plant structure. Can undergo cell devision mature allowing them repair damaged parts of plants. Basis of many plant structure and functions including ; storage , photosynthesis , gas exchange protection.
sclerenchyma cells - when they mature , they lack cytoplasm and other living components , but leaving their thick, rigid cell walls.
-
plant tissues
-
-
-
meristematic tissue , they make up meristems , or regions of rapidly dividing cells which produces new cells for plants

Plant response
2-Tropic response
A tropism is a plants growth to external stimulus , if plant grows towards stimulus then + but if away then -.
.
-
-
Thigmotropism : growth to mechanical stimuli , such as contact with an object organism or wind.
1- Nastic response
Plant response that causes movement independent of the stimulus. like opening of leaves during the day , closing at night once stimulus ends , the leaves return to their original position.
Plants , roots , stems
-
Types of roots
-
Taproots : consist of a thick root with few smaller lateral - branching roots its also used for food storage ( beets and carrots) used for deep grow to reach water
modified roots : adapted to diverse environments
1-Pneumatophores supplies oxygen to roots submerged in water.
2-Adventitious roots forms unusual support structures.
-
Leaves
function : photosynthesis . Leaves consist of a blade the large surface area , it is attached to the stem by a stalk called a petiole
Leaf structure
Palisade mesophyll is composed of tightly packed cells with many chloroplasts
Spongy mesophyll consist of irregulary shaped cells with spaces in between allowing gases move between these cells
-
-
Leaf modifications
.
-In cacti , leaves have been modified into spines to prevent predation by animals.
-
- Some leaves produce toxic chemicals to prevent predation
