How about a friend? Who you like and hang out with is a part of you as well isn’t it? It’s your first day of primary school, and you’re scared. Your senses are overwhelmed as your brain tries to process all the new information. There is a hint of glue to the classroom, but mostly it’s an amalgamation of kids, air freshener and a strange smell you can’t quite place, though you instinctively know it’s the smell of school. Noise is coming from all directions, a jumble of excited kids, and a few crying ones. You take your fist tentative step into the classroom with your muscles tightly clenched, scared to show your fear. Looking around the classroom, there are three empty seats. One is next to a girl in the middle of a fit of laughter, only pausing to take gasps of air as if she were a swimmer, exuberant at the fact that she was drowning. The second is beside a boy, wrestling with his new found friends. Though a bit aggressive, he and his friends seem to be having fun. And the third is at the side of a girl, whispering to the person beside her, her smile being that of a devil, devious and with glee. Who will you sit next to? The [Laughing Girl], the [Wrestling Boy], the [Whispering Girl]
Diana - You walk up to the girl whispering into the ear of the person beside her. Asking if you can sit in the seat beside her, she replies with the utmost seriousness. “Only if you can keep everything I say a secret”. Nodding you sit down and lean in, curious about what she could have to say that is so classified. Instantaneously, she starts to talk, listing every horrendous thing that people in the class have done. How she knew about all the information, you don’t know, but you both eye the other people with an analytical stare, hungry for drama. Later you learn her name is Diana, and you tell her your name. “My name is __”. You two become absolute drama queens, taking pleasure in hyperbolising even the tiniest thing. Whether it’s about your one true love or what you heard someone say, she is always by your side to share the tea.
You have a hobby and a friend! What else do you need? How about a favourite toy! Would you like a [Plush Elephant], an [Arcade Machine], or a [Dress Up Box]
Dress up box - You have always been the more imaginative type, attaining more enjoyment from playing with thoughts in your mind rather than interacting with a toy. However, the dress up box allows you to do what you have always wanted to do. Externalise your imagination to become anything you want. It’s your way of expression, your way of escaping. Even though it does get a bit childish as you grow older, you don’t let go, because if you do, that means letting go of [name] the pirate, [name] the fairy or even [name] the astronaut.
-
Arcade machine - You see the flashing lights and 8-bit sounds coming from the giant machine, as it seems to call to you. You look as pixelated aliens float in the sky, their feelers and antenna moving around in a rhythmic dance. You are at the bottom, a fighter ship that needs to blast all the creatures into oblivion. Instantly hooked, whenever you’re not at school or [hobby], you’re playing on the arcade machine. In a way, it becomes a part of your life, in turn, becoming a part of you.
Great! You’ve finished making what used to be just a pile of flesh into a mirror of yourself! But what will happen to this person in the future? Well let’s find out!

Plush elephant - You pick up the soft plush and can almost feel warmth emanating from the toy. The warmth spreads to your entire body as you cuddle the elephant, running your fingers across the soft fur. As you embrace the pillow-like toy, you feel a part of yourself grow inside it, it becomes a part of who you are, part of your identity. From that point onwards, you won’t go anywhere without the plush. It is connected to you by an invisible thread of love and memories.
-
Jayce - You walk up to the boy in the middle of play fighting with his friends. Asking if you can sit next to him, he replies with a challenge. “Only if you can beat me in an arm wrestle!” You readily accept, sitting down to face him. What follows is perhaps the most intensive arm wrestling fight you have had in your entire life. Multiple times the match nearly ends, but the other pulls back just in time. Finally, with one final surge of power, you slam your hand down, winning the challenge. “Wow, you’re strong! I’m Jayce,” He says, a boyish eagerness to his voice. “I’m ___” you reply back. From that encounter blossoms a close friendship. Oftentimes he will be slightly annoying or go a bit too far, but it’s all fun and games. You insult each other and play fight, but when things get rough you’re always by each other’s side.
-
Zoe - you walk up to the girl still in hysterical laughter. Asking if you can sit next to her, she replies with “only if you’re an elephant!” and goes back into an uncontrollable giggle that seems to flow out of her mouth with no stop. You’ve clearly missed any context that could have made the joke funny, but you start chuckling anyway. Not intentionally, but something about her laughter opens a gate, and before you know it, laughter is flowing out. Once you two have finally calmed down enough to utter words, she starts talking. “Sorry, I get really giggly when I’m nervous. I’m Zoe, what’s your name?”. “My name is __”. Her voice is bright and bubbly, matching her laughter and personality. Before you know it, the two of you become the closest of friends that day, and for the rest of primary school. You two are always the class clowns, using every opportunity you get to pull off a joke. Most of your time together is filled with uncontrollable laughter that fills any room with pure joy. While the teachers often reprimand you two for your noisiness, it doesn’t concern you, you have each other, and that’s all that you need to be happy.
