The Cosmological and Teleological.
Teleological Argument
The idea that God must exist as there is eveidance that the world is designed.
we can see this in nature from the laws of phisyiscs and patters found in plants.
Things like the goldern ratio support this
Phaly
The watch maker.
If you walk along a path a see a rock you would assume it has always been then as and it has not been designed. This is as it is organic and dose not have anything to suggest a designer
Is supported by some of things that Aquines put forward.
NML
Cosmological Argument.
Aquinas
The Five way's
The Second way
when somthing chagnes it is caused by somthing else with force it to change.
The Fourth way
So there must have been one big cause to start off all other causes.
The First way
Things change all the time.
The Third way
There can't be an infinite regress of causes
The Fith way
This cause must be God.
The Idea that Becuase of the World is full of Causes there must have been a single cause to begin all other causes.
Alot of his thinking was drawn from the works of Aristotle and his ideas on the prime mover.
Not only this but must of his idea come from him observing nature and the way in which evrything seems to have been designed with a perpose in mind. Like how a river flows down stream towards to the sea.
The archer directing the arrow towards the target.
Hume
Hume has critisims for both Arguments
You can't comper the Universe to a clock. They are two completly diffrent things.
If the Universe is designed then it could have been designed
There is nothing suggesting that the Universe dose not go back for an infinight amount of time and therefore dose not have a begging.
The Big Bang theory while just a theory could both Prove and disprove Both Humes critisim and the Cosmological arguments.
We don't know what came before the Big bang so God could be the awnser but Humes theory though predating the theory could also be right with the Universe existing in some way before the big Bang.
The Big Bang could be evidance of God as it could be seen as the first cause and caused all other causes.
Darwins theory of evolution
Those like Mill would use Darwins theory of evlution to suggest that God is not at all a loving being due to the way Animals treat each other in nature.
The Digger Wasp stings it's prey to lay it's eggs. when the larvey hach they such down the imuine system of the prey it is in a starts to eat it's way though the preys boday untill the prey dies and the larvey devlop into a wasp.
The Argument for Evoultion my be used to support it as it seems there is a number of causes that lead to the development of life.
However it could also dissprove it in the eyes of Hume as evn if there was no God the existance of life could have been much like the universe it'self brought about by chance.
