To brainstorming a researcher can follow this guidance:
a. define your problem
b. ask for suggestion, relating to the problem
c. Record all suggestion, observing the following rules.
d. review all the suggestions and explore what is meant by each
e. Analyze the list of suggestions and decide which appeal to you most as research ideas and why?
Keep a note book of idea
A researcher than can purse the idea using more rational thinking techniques later.
To improve your research ideas as input to your research problem, get as many feedback as you can.
Steps in identifying a research problem
The findings may become not the roots of the problem or considers as not the main issues or just become the peripheral issues.
Will create the problem in the originality and novelty of the research findings.
a. What is theoretical gap?
Literature review is the most important aspect in identifying the research problem or topic to study
Encompassed reading on various sources of information whether categories as primary sourced, secondary sources or other reading materials that do not fall under these categories.
What is empirical gap?
Took place in each corners of the world.
Followed by a systematic process and produces valid and reliable research findings
Will be reported in several of academic setting whether as a written report or in the form of presentation of the academic finding at different platforms.
C. What is practical gap?
Practical gap refers to present issues, event or phenomenon that happens in the area of study.
Represents the timely aspect of the issue in the present situation.
Can be from various sources such as newspaper, magazines and other sources.
Turning research ideas into research projects
Defining research questions, rather like gathering research ideas, is not a straight forward matter.
Important that the questions are sufficiently involved to generate the sort of project that is consistent with the standards expected of the researcher.
Useful starting point in the writing of the research questions to begin with one general focus research questions that flow from researchers ideas.
