SLT EVALUATION
One strength of SLT is its real life applications, including on criminal behaviour.
This suggests that if an individual identifies with a criminal model and develops an expectation of positive consequences for their own criminal behaviour, they are likely to copy this behaviour.
As a result, it allows psychologists to identify and understand factors that lead to criminal behaviour and consequently suggest strategies to reduce crime.
For example, Acres found that the probability of an individual engaging in criminal behaviour increases when they are exposed to criminal peers who may be perceived as role models.
Therefore, this provides real-world support for the theory.
