As a school, create a safe space for students. Within the space there can be places to rest, snacks for hungry children, and clean clothing.

Role-play "What if Scenarios" (e.g., You can role-play the bully while your child practices different responses until they feel confident handling troublesome situations.
Aim to work together with the school and make it clear that you are seeking the school's help in finding a solution
Keep an open line of communication. Check in with your kids every day about how things are going at school.
Build the student's self confidence. Encourage hobbies, extracurricular activities, and social situations that bring out the best in the student.

Response Strategies:
- If you are aware of the sexual abuse, treat the student with love, care, respect, and NEVER place or allow the student to blame themselves.
- Both teach and model emotional regulation in the class.
- Encourage parents to educate their children about sexual development.
- Show the student how to practice journaling as a form of record-keeping and emotional release.
- Take action to prevent further abuse - know the signs of sexual abuse and coordinate closely with a school counselor, if possible.
