religion is defined by the social functions it performs for society
doesn't necessarily need a higher power
music or football could be an example
social constructionist
defined by those that practice it, more concerned by those that interpret spirituality, unlike the others this looks to find an understanding of what following a religion means to those who follow it.
how does religion differ from science?
religion is rarely challenged by those that believe, science is often scrutinised by those who believe it.
religion cannot be falsified- science is based on falsification- being able to be disproven is a main principle of science.
