For our country, this is an extraordinary event, that is taking place on Friday the 24th of June. This public holiday will have a big impact on our country, Aotearoa. One whole day, we can use this time to gather together with our whanau and celebrate our ancestors on Matariki.

Depending on the regulations (if stores will open or close), some businesses may make more money because of trade - from gifts. Others will not.
What we think about it PERSONALLY?
Hayley- Matariki is such a phenomenal event that is celebrated around the world. But has originated in our country (Aotearoa). This public holiday would give us a whole day to catch up with our whanau and our close ones to celebrate this special day so, in my opinion, this is a great decision the government has made.
SOPHIE: Matariki is such a special day, to celebrate. I believe, it's great that it has become a national public holiday, to our country. To honour our loved ones and finally see that Matariki is reconsigned.
