Spirit of God
- Gen 2:7 "formed man out of dust of the ground, breathed nostrils the breath of life."
- Made in his image.
- The Hebrew word for breath is translated as spirit.
- Humans share the same spirit of God, god's spirit give humans some of his qualities.
FREE WILL
- free will, garden of Eden for Adam to live in.
- God tells Aam that he may eat from any tree in the garden except from the tree; but although Adam was commanded not to eat it, God gives Adam the free will to decide to eat from the tree or not.

STEWARDSHIP
- Gen 1:28 god tells Adam and Eve to "subdue the earth" and ' have dominion'. Humans have been given power and authority to rule over all other creatures.
- Gen 2:15, god puts Adam in the garden to "keep it and till it ", looking after the world with care and love.
- We have duty to look after the environment on the behalf of god, Christians believe the world is a gift from god, so god expects us to protect and care for the world in return.
- Gen 1:27 " in his image", shows that all humans are equal as they have all been created by god and shared gods qualities.
- This means all people have dignity, worthy of honour and respect, catholics believe that everyone should respect their own dignity as well as other people.
- Gen 1:28 god blesses humans after he create them, believe all creation is hey as it has been created and blessed by god.
- belief that every stage of life should be treated with care and resect.
- against euthanasia and abortion
WORD OF GOD
- The bible contains the word of god given by the prophets.
- The bible tell of the actions and teachings of Jesus in the Gospels.
- The bible contains the writings of the apostles in the Epistles.
- God guided the writing of the bible through the Holy Sprit.
MAGISTERIUM
- Catholics are guided in their interp of the Bible by the magisterium, the reaching authority the Church, from pope and bishops.
- Magisterium is continually inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit, this means you can trust them to interpret the bible correctly.
- " sacred scripture is the word of God" Dei Verbum 9
CARE FOR THE ENVIROMENT
- all creation is special as it was made by god to be good. Catholics should take care of the environment and creation.
- we are stewards of the earth ( gen 2). Humans have responsibly to look after the earth.
- Jesus taught to "love your neighbour as yourself"(mark 12:31). neighbours include people who share the world. pollution and littering will affect human life, and future generations.
WAYS THAT YOU CAN CARE
- throw away less waste, recycle, walk/cycle
- put pressure on politicians, support and buy environmentally friendly products
- put pressure on gov, boycott or help to expose international companies that threaten the environs

CAFOD
- Much of the worlds energy come from natural resources, god made every part of creation good, so it is all important and valuable.
- catholics believe that promoting sustainable living helps to respect the goodness of all the gods creation.
- Agency to help people living in poverty in order to creat a more balanced + sustainable world.
- setting up projects that use renewable energy such as in solar panels.
- help farmars to use sustainable , and inexpensive farming methods, such as natural fertilisers. (MONLAR-sri Lanka).
- improve peoples quality of life by making campaigns.
- encourage people to use less natural resources.

Religion and science do not contradict each other
- genesis stories are read as myths, do not contradict evolution
church is supportive of advances that help to understand gods creation.
- Lemaitre was a priest that proposed the Big Bang Theory.
they are asking about different questions
- religion explains why but science explains how.
- Idea that humans are born with a understanding of what is wrong and right.
- god made all of creation good ( gen 1)
- Humans are made in the image of god ( gen 1:27)
- important as it is part of gods willl for humans, built in moral code so we should follow it.
- Humans should not need rules to tell them what is right
- moral principles to protect + preserve life, links to sanctity of life (all life is holy and sacred)
Interpret the bible literally, bible is factorial record
- The bible is he word of god so it just be accurate in all respects.
- humans have no rights to prefer their own interns to the actual words of god.
- believe it was created in 6 days, disagree with evolution. Believe that gpd made humans separately.
