Residents' Associations
Majority were formed in the 1920s-30s when urban areas were expanding rapidly. Primarily focused on generating a community.
Tend to be concerned with housing and environmental matters which are important on a local scale e.g. traffic speeds, parking, footpath maintenance and use of community centre.
Heritage Associations
-
They try to preserve ways of living/working, buildings, machinery and clothes.

Digital Placemaking
Social media is being used to encourage public participation and collaboration in local decision making and planning.
Power of 10+: places thrive when those who use them have 10+ reasons why they are there. Social media allows people to share individual reasons and these ideas can be brought together, mapped and then the community can be adapted accordingly.
