Bilateral Tolerance : It is allowed to vary in 2 directions from the specified dimensions. Both directions need not to have the same amount and figure

IMPORTANCE OF TOLERANCE
If tolerance is not given , exact measurements of the parts must be done and the rejection rate is very high. It is not realistic as well

Same parts can be made the same from different companies and it can be changeable. Tolerance helps in making sure it has good quality control for parts from different company
