Hitler
Born in Austria in 1889 - moved to Munich in 1913 due to mandatory military service in Austria
His life was determined by 3 major events:
Death of his father
Death of his mother
Denial from art school - twice
He became obsessed with Germany and fought in the first world war - Hitler was shocked Germany had lost and angry that the treaty of Versailles was signed
Hitler's early political career
German Worker's party (DAP) was set up - only around 50 members before Hitler joined
Hitler joined after attending a meeting to gain information as an informant for the German army
DAP set up a permanent headquarters and Hitler became second in command
Hitler suggested a new name - the national socialist German workers party; the NDSAP or Nazi party for short
Hitler became the leader and the party began to grow rapidly
25 point programme
The Nazi program written by Hitler and Drexler included the following points:
Increase pensions
Nationalise industries
GEt rid of the treaty of Versailles
Get everybody a jov
Build up Germany's armed forces
Only German races may be members of the nation - No JEWS
Expand Germany to new territory
Equal rights and duties for all citizens
SA (stormtroopers)
Paramilitary force made of ex soldiers that were unemployed
They were under the command of Ernst Rohm and nicknamed 'brownshirts'
Used to disrupt opposition's meetings and control crowds along with any opposition to Hitler - often with violence
