A cycle of events (menstrual cycle)
1- the lining is lost from the uterus and blood leaves the body
2- after approx 5 days the lining of the uterus begings to build up
3- during this time an egg develops in the ovary
4- the egg is released from the ovary
5- the lining of the uterus continues to thicken
6- the egg is not fertilied
fertilisation
tiny hairs called cillia line the inside walls of the fallopian tube, these hairs wave backwards and forwards in order to move the egg along the fallopian tube
sperm swims from the vagina throuht the cervix and into the uterus. one egg is released from an ovary every month
Developing needs
as the fetus grows and develops in the usterus it must be provided with substances it needs to stay alive and the materials to help it grow
the mothers blood takes the nutriens to the developing fetus
the fetus breathes in amnotomic fulids
the baby produces urine which is released into the antomic fulid
contraception
a male condom-external condoms are a barrier mathods of contraception, they stop sperm meeting an egg
contraceptive pills- oestrogen and progestogen stop eggs from maturing inside the ovary and provent ovulation from happening
diraphragm- diragphragrams and caps are barrier methods of contreception. this means they help you stop getting pregnant by stopping sperm from meeting an egg
female condom- internal (female) condoms are barrier methods of contraception, they stop sperm meeting the egg
contraceptive implant- progesterone stop eggs from maturing inside the overies, and prevent ovulation from occuring it works for three years
IUD- the copper in the IUD stops sperm and eggs from surviving it also changes your cervical mucus to stop sperm from reaching an egg
vaginal ring- oestrong and progestogen stop eggs from maturing inside the ovaries and prevent ovulation happening
plants reproduce
the male gametes are inside the pollen
the femle gametes are inside the overies
Asexual reproduction- a type of reproduction that does not involve fusion of gametes
sexual reproduction- fusen of female and male gametes
