Considering the students English level, this activity could take place in a fifth grade. Hence, I will teach my students some vocabulary (such as boy, house, crown, mouse, house, soil, coin) that includes diphthongs, by highlighting where the diphthong is, and explaining them the meaning of the words.
Diphthongs are useful to teach the students that when two vowels are together, the pronunciation of words can change.
Taking into account that I already explained them some words that contain diphthongs, I will print a task in which they have to match a picture with the word (or letter) while use the same vocabulary. An adaptation I would like to do is to ask them to put down the diphthong they found in each one of the words.
