How it works
The component that is more soluble in the mobile phase will tend to move faster and travel further up the paper. It will be found near the solvent front.
Based on the relative solubilities of the solute in two different substances, one not moving ( stationary phase) and the other moving ( mobile phase).
Thus, different components can be separated as they move up different distances from the base line due to the difference in their solubility in the solvent.
