2. Plant organs.
Well-differentiated tissues have organs that specialize in carrying out specific functions. Main organs are the roots, the stem and the leaves.
Roots
Roots are branched underground structures. Root systems extend through the soil to carry out their functions more effectively.

-
Areas of cell division and growth are located near the end of the root. At the end of the root, a small cone of cells called the root cap protects the root as it grows.
Stems
Main functions:
Transport substances through the conducting tissue (water and minerals from the roots and the nutrients produced by the plant).
-
-
Parts:
Axillary bud: lateral buds develop into new branches or leaves, located in the nodes.
Apical bud: located at the tips, or ends, of stem. They are the primary growing point.

Leaves
-
-
Leaf parts include petiole, leaf sheath and a blade.
-
-
Blade: Wide, flat part of a leaf. It has a topside and an underside. Visible lines in leaf blades are called veins. That consist of conducting tissues. They distribute substances throughout the leaf.
