EXIT WEST
Exist West, contrarily to Go Went Gone, shows the other side of the migrant crisis, showing the perspective of asylum seekers. This work demonstrates the final vision of all of the works studied here, wherein people realize the futility of sticking to ingrained forms of oppression and move to live more in-tune with (at least) all people. Accommodations are made for migrants seeking asylum, showing the first step in a long process of healing a global society ruled by oppressive practices.

THE VEGETARIAN
The Vegetarian introduces the idea that cultural practices can be rooted in means of oppression, such as patriarchy, and that the only true way to resist oppressive forces is total noncompliance. This work sparks the idea that oppressive practices stem from much larger histories, such as colonialist practices and globalization, indicating a need for a change in the world order.
Eugenics
GO WENT GONE
Go Went Gone shows one side of the issue of the migration crisis, showing the perspective of the citizens of a nation accepting migrants. This work suggests that understanding the situations of people seeking asylum and accommodating them when possible will lead to a better society beyond existing oppressive forces, such as the Dublin II legislation.

KAFKA ON THE SHORE
Kafka on the Shore introduces us to the them of Hollowness, as well as demonstrates to us the ideal of patriarchy as a form of oppression as Kafka runs to escape his father. However, the presence of hollowness in the world likely stems from the history of practices of globalization and oppression stemming from colonialism and can be seen in other works as well.

THIS MOURNABLE BODY
This Mournable Body introduces the concept of Eco-Tourism and is our clearest depiction of life post-colonialism. Eco-Tourism is the response of some Zimbabweans to a struggling economy resultant from colonialist practices and involves the "authentication" of African villages and wild spaces in the eyes of white tourists to improve profits.
SWING TIME
Swing Time introduces the concepts of neoliberalism and global capitalism. These harsh practices lend power to the powerful while withholding it from the powerless and can be seen throughout the story as Aimee continues to have her way without consequences. This work builds off of previous works, showing the benefit of the already powerful from ingrained cultural systems of oppression and hollowness.
